First S.T.E.P. Class
First S.T.E.P. (Socialization Through Enriched Play) is a preschool class in collaboration with ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation. We are only one of two preschools in the country that offers a class for children, or siblings of family members, undergoing cancer treatment or other childhood diseases. A Typical Day
9:30am - 11:00am Meet in the classroom to start the day with centers. . Centers include blocks, process art, home living, sensory play, science & nature, and manipulative exploration. Children also engage with teachers one-on-one during playtime and with art projects. All toys are rotated on a regular basis to provide children with age-appropriate opportunities to enhance their social-emotional and motor skills. The classroom is provided exclusively for First S.T.E.P. and is sanitized daily. 11:00am - 11:20am Circle time! Teachers read stories, lead songs, and teach children a variety of topics that are reinforced with art projects and experiments. 11:20am - 11:50am Snack time! We eat together a snack. This time is used for conversation and to reinforce good manners. *Please note: First Baptist is a peanut-free school.* 12:00pm - 12:30pm Gross motor development opportunities at the gym or playground are provided for children to interact with one another and teachers |
